Purple table
I found a wooden stool at a yard sale and painted it purple. Then I took unglazed porcelain tiles and painted them with alcohol dye. They were a really vibrant color. Each tile was a mixture of 3 similar colors. Then I grouted it with a purplish grout and when I wiped off the grout, the color had become muted and I loved it! I think it is one of the coolest things I have done. It is the kind of stool you sit on to put on your shoes, or you could put it on your patio.
Handmade tile mirror
I made this by rolling out colorful Premo Sculpey clay and then impressing it on rubber stamps. After baking, I used Tim Holtz alcohol inks to make the colors more vibrant and then rubbed gold Rub n’ Buff along the edges. A few of the tiles I just scored them and painted them. The tiles are so close together it didn’t need to be grouted but when there were spots, I filled them in with little skinny bits of clay I baked. The whole thing is covered with Sculpey Glaze to keep it safe.

Polymer Clay tile mirror
I just tried a new technique. I made mosaic tiles of polymer clay which allowed me to paint them whatever color I wished. The directions called for rolling the dough to 1/8 ” but I think that was too thin because I couldn’t incorporate already made tiles with it. Next time I will make them thicker. I had seen a table made like this and found it was made by Laurie Mika, whose book I used. Her table is much better but this was my first try. I just tried a new technique. This is a trivet I just did. I got a postcard from a gallery where I once bought a painting and cut it up. I then used tempered glass to cover it with and grouted it. I rubbed mica powder into the grout. It is offered for sale on my Etsy site, AveryMosaics
This is a large pot I covered with purple, pink, and green plates I found at the thrift store. It is for sale if you contact me.
I made this from a terracotta platter. It was my first attempt at cutting glass. I made another one like it and glued it to a cast iron base and use it as a patio table. It could also be used as a bird bath. It has been sitting on my patio and has no problems with being outside. My cat likes to drink rainwater out of it.
